This isn’t just a list. It’s a true archive. Our first mission is preservation: we digitize recordings one by one because both physical and digital releases can be lost. Recordings are more than entertainment. They are primary historical documents that capture the sounds, voices, ideas, and creative expression of their time. By preserving these recordings, we help ensure that Minnesota’s music history remains accessible, discoverable, and part of our shared cultural record for generations to come.
Every artist’s work matters. Whether you’re an artist, collector, institution, or label, your efforts to share recordings by Minnesota artists are essential. Contribute recordings, either permanently or for temporary archival use, and help build a digital archive that preserves and documents Minnesota’s recorded music heritage. If it fits our definition of a Minnesota release, we want it in the archive.
We welcome physical recordings in formats such as CDs, vinyl, and cassettes. These materials are essential to preserving Minnesota’s musical history—especially releases that may not exist in digital form.
